Limerick Corner, March 2025

Well, I know we are not out of the woods for the cold and snowy weather, but we are ready for spring! The Limerick School/Hall has a new wreath on the building, donated by Volunteer Kathy Harrington. You can find her work at the Village Treasure in the village. We also have air fresheners there, or you can reach out to Pat Popielsk at 716-542-4947. They are $6.00 each. We have our coffee cups and tumblers at Market on Main for sale. These items help us raise funds throughout the year to cover day-to-day operational costs.

The time has come to add a modern restroom addition to the Limerick. This was made possible by a grant from Erie County Culture and Development, as well as community fundraising and donations. We are very blessed. They started on Friday, March 7th. The structure will be the same as it is currently, just the roof line will change. With work being done, we will not have a spring event, but hope to have our annual rummage sale in August, so save those unwanted items or reach out to Pat Popielski to meet and drop off.

We are looking at some other fundraising opportunities. Once the restroom project is complete, we will be able to offer the building to small groups for meetings, have arts and cultural programming, an annual alumni class reunion, and field trips! We dream big! We know that there are lots of needs in the community, but if you would like to donate to help with upcoming projects, you can by mailing a check to Friends of Limerick Inc., 6074 Cummings Rd. Akron, NY 14001. You can also donate online through PayPal on our website, limerickschool.org, or by Venmo “@Limerickschoool”. (Yes, there are three o’s in the account name.) If you have any questions about upcoming construction, fundraising, or donating, you can give us a call at 716-320-0512.

Bring on Spring!
